This is a great small batch Irish gin, authentic and smooth. You can easily pick the juniper and citrus notes, however the maritime profile is very prominent. Unfortunately, that’s also the reason why it didn’t get a perfect score. I’ve tried maritime gins before but, I felt that the seaweed was too savory. I tried it neat, on ice and in G&T. It went well although I ended up sticking to the tonic to balance it out.
About this bottle
This Irish maritime gin highlights the Donegal coast using six traditional gin botanicals to enhance the five locally harvested seaweeds: dulse, dúlamán, carrageen moss, pepper dulse, and sweet kombu. Each label is hand written and the full moon is recorded when the shyest of the seaweeds (pepper dulse) is harvested at the low tide. The name An Dúlamán is the name of an Irish folk song which is about a conversation between two seaweed collectors.
