An intense, Single Malt Scotch Whisky by the Knockdhu Distillery in Highland, Scotland up until now — this has been a “regional exclusive”'; aged in ex-bourbon barrels before being bottled at 46% ABV. It has a fruity & earthy birth with notes of citrus, caramel, honey & peat with a hint of cinnamon-apply crumble; while a creamy & rich life with notes of leafy herbs, warm smoke, toffee & a hint of cooking spice; that led to a delicate death of medium length with floral & vanilla notes. Nose: Dry peat smoke, grassy, vanilla, muddy Palate: Vegetal, BBQ pork, green leafy vegetables, peat, chilli & ginger, citrus & orange, zesty Finish: Medium finish. Oily, peaty, vanilla. Souring on the aftertaste. Smooth and peaty, although not as intensely peated as you’d get from a South Islay dram. A bit of citrus and orange throughout, which becomes more prominent on the aftertaste. The citrus notes seem to sit on top of the peat, rather than being well integrated into the dram.
