Created to celebrate Jamaica's 50th anniversary of its independence from Great Britain in 1962. Master Blender Joy Spence selected their best barrels for this special bottling. The rum is a minimum of 50 years of age and were aged in American barrels. Only 800 bottles were created.

Had half an ounce or so on a disney cruise. The bartender was feeling generous as I mused about whether or not such an expensive rum would taste significantly better. There began the love my wife and I found for good sipping rum. The 50 year was amazing, smooth and easy to drink without being sweet or simple. Amazing.
My favorite store has bottle 084 of 800, for $5000 USD. I guess I'll get a chance to buy it and try it when I win Powerball, otherwise I will look at it longingly as I pass by on my way to buy reasonably priced drinks.
