Adaminak 3.8

Nose is ashy, ala wet campfire soot, then raisins and wet green hay and just the smallest hint of peat. First sip is a smidge hot, but not out of line for 50% ABV. Ashy nose aside, palate doesn't start with smoke and instead is fruit salad before the Sherry casks assert their influence and inject raisins, figs, and soft nuts before shifting to dark bitter chocolate and spicy green peppercorn for the close. This coats the glass just as nicely as the Infinite Loch, but it doesn't feel as creamy and rich. The ash from the nose never really dominates, but instead lingers after the flavors melt away, leaving a dryness that lasts a minute or more. A drop of water doesn't change the nose, but does bring out some tangerine citrus that carries from start to mid palate, and the close is just ever so slightly less peppery. If pressed, I'd opine the Infinite Loch is better balanced overall, but as this is more my flavor profile it gets the higher score. Another solid bottle from the youngest distillery on Islay, and one you should try if given the chance.
