Neat. Neck pour. The price on this is probably too high, but I tried a sample and was very impressed. I find it odd the best Barton products I have had are typically never under Barton labels. On the nose, this single barrel comes across with lots of stereotypical Barton qualities. Banana nut bread is the main foundation but there is this really nice light layer. Getting a pear note, which is interesting. Leather and tobacco. Clove. Vanilla bean. Powdered sugar. Custard. Quite delicious. Mouth feel is perfectly oily. Banana nut bread strikes immediately but it’s covered in a rich vanilla icing. Mid palate swings hard into the tobacco. Custard shows up mid palate too. Finish is a bit bitter. Leather comes on a bit too strong. Banana comes back on the finish as well. Unfortunately for me, the sample I had came off stronger than the single barrel I purchased. This bitterness on the finish is a turn off that should not be present in a product this expensive. Hopefully it opens up but certainly not worth the money at this point.

Great nose of sweet vanilla, baking spice, and caramel. The palate is reminiscent of GTS-sweet, rich, fruity, subtle and smooth oak. Long finish that’s a bit dry with cacao, chocolate covered cherries, spice, and molasses. Not cheap at $200 but definitely worth having on your shelf! Addendum: I’ve read some of the lower rates reviews and understand where they are coming from on the initial palate. This one needs to open up for at least 15-20 minutes. The palate intensifies exponentially after this and you will get a flavor explosion in your mouth that is hard to handle! Trust me-try it after it opens up. It’s amazing!
For a bourbon over 120 proof, this is surprisingly smooth and balanced. Lovely nose, it reminds me of Wilshire pipe tobacco with some brown fruit. Palate is sweet, fig on the forefront, and then a long vanilla oak finish. The high proof makes it tingle down the middle of the tongue, but it never burns. That tobacco-vanilla comes back on the exhale, so it's just a great experience from beginning to end.
I drink it neat. Cherry honey on the front and smooth across the tongue with an Okie finish. Very good for a single barrel. Probably my favorite that I’ve ever had. For the high proof it does not taste overwhelming but smooth
Nose: oak, dark cherries, leather, rye Taste: Coca-Cola, or cherry coke, rye spice, toasted oak, leather Add water get a little salted caramel Long and lingering with oak, leather and spices
25-98. Sweet nutty oak. Dense, viscous barrel spice. Peanuts, vanilla and spice. Lots of heat. Like a barrel strength 13 year Knob creek.
