About this bottle

Aultmore is from the Gaelic term meaning "Big Burn"; a burn being a small river or large stream. The Burn in discussion is the Burn of Auchinderran, the water source for the distillery. This is a malt usually reserved for blending, but some single malt bottlings exist, primarily as independent bottlings. This distillery release 21 year bottling is aged in refill hogsheads and bottled at 92 proof. This was released in November 2014 exclusively for Travel Retail. Update: As of November 2018, this bottling is now available in the US.

I would call it an "alcoholic chamomile"! Very delicate whisky, easy to drink, pleasant, not complex. On the nose chamomile, honey, vanilla. I honestly don't feel all the fruit that others feel. On the palate always delicate and always chamomile, honey, vanilla, but here I feel quite well a distinct pineapple flavor! Medium length finish where all the previous aromas are confirmed and where a spicy note appears. An excellent drink, which does not take the maximum just because it is too delicate for my personal tastes!

I have been seeing this bottle in almost every duty free there is, and since it is not a very famous whisky, i always wandered why is it selling so good. Tonight i tried it and now i know: it is a great dram. Known as the "Foggie Moss", Aultmore 21yo is an speysider in every sense of the word, Super fruity and easy drinkanble. Bottled at 46%abv, amber color. On the nose it is a fruit salad. Very clean aromas, easy distinguishable. Pineapple, Pear, Apples; A little almost inexistent pepper. A small peat note. Peaches, Cinnamon and mostly Pineapple marmalade. On the palate, it starts very spicy, which is not the usual, to then deliver a fruity punch. Grapefruit, pineapple and lemoncello. Aftertaste is very different from the rest of the dram. An Ashy - peaty note appears out of nowhere. Overall, this is a very good dram, i am actually surprised. It is not cheap, but i think you are getting your money's worth. 92 over 100. Sláinte!

Very complex with a one of a kind body for a scotch. I could drink this 7 times and probably pick up different characteristics and flavors each time.

sweeeeeeet. I had loved the 18, but that is even better. Too expensive (175€), but not enough to stop me from stocking another bottle asap.

One of the highlight drammers club pours with notes of vanilla, grass, marshmallow, herbs, caramel, honey, and floral notes.

Newhouse 3.8

Remarkably more pungent and less smooth than expected for a 21 y.o. Vanilla, varnish, pepper, grain, light caramel.
