Nose is heavy with almonds, tannins, grape juice, raspberry. Body is butter, red wine. Grainy feel, which when combined with the sweetness it reminds me a bit of a Speyside. Also super dry! The trademark sweetness from Basil Hayden’s is still there, but it is somehow present for the flavor and absent for the mouth feel. It’s strange. It’s not great. Finish really hammers the almond note. I get sangria. I get cherry cough syrup. For the record: I hate Basil Hayden’s with a passion. This is not great, but it’s also a pretty big improvement. So… I’d never buy this again, as there are much better red wine finishes out there in this mid-shelf price range (Hotel Tango, Jefferson’s). But given the choice between this and regular Basil Hayden’s, this one wins all day, and I am genuinely impressed with what they pulled off here. This one is drinkable. Happy New Years!!!

On the nose: hints of citrus blend with notes of brown sugar and honey On the palate: Good golly, it tastes like red wine! It’s very unique because of the taste of a Cabernet but the texture of a whiskey. I will say, maybe at times it tastes a little TOO much like red wine, but it is quite delicious The finish: Dark cherries and hints of citrus Overall: it’s pretty smooth, and as a red wine taster, I enjoy this one a lot!

Gave this a couple nights of trying it to make a fair review. So here are my thoughts. On the nose: Strawberry with hints Orange Palate: Super weak and not much to find in the taste. Finish: Really doesn’t finish well and has a strange tangy taste to it. Overall not really a fan of this bottle. I’ve heard hit and miss with Basil Hayden but as a fan of fruit and floral whiskeys, I definitely didn’t like this one.

Just tried a delicious pour of @BasilHayden’s Red Wine Cask Finish Bourbon. Wow, a tremendous expression on finish, with solid transformation through notes from mint, caramel, wood spice and bright red fruit to a slight drying finish. Can’t wait to get a few bottles for myself. I highly recommend getting your paws on this. Very tasty.

Extremely smooth all the way through. Almost no heat to it but didn't come off as flat. Red wine notes throughout the flavor profile with slightly more flavorful notes on the front, very little in the middle other than the red wine taste, with a slight fruit note on the back end.

One of the worst whiskeys I’ve ever had. I consider myself to be well versed in whiskey and have a good palate. The dominant flavors are scented soap/scented candle. Has an odd copper taste. Like nothing else I’ve ever had, in the worst way. Take this off the market now.
