Black Velvet Reserve, aged 8 years. 80 proof, sharp aroma, smells mostly of that odd Canadian sweetness, slightly off putting. This one might be bottled in Canada unlike the standard black velvet. It was priced only 4 bucks more than the standard BV as well. It was 13.99 for a 750 ml. It has a similar taste to regular BV, maybe a little less rye/sweet up front, yet still on the sweet side but not over doing it and you get the white oak or used oak on the back end. Taste better than it smells. Super smooth like water. A touch better than regular Black Velvet. Grade: C
About this bottle
Black Velvet Whisky was first introduced in 1951 and uses water sourced from the Canadian Rockies and the finest grains (rye and corn). Instead of blending at bottling, the whiskies are blended at distillation. Black Velvet Reserve is the older expression of the distillery's flagship that has aged for 8 years in oak barrels.

Nose: Rye spice, caramel, plums, ginger Palate: Brown sugar, molasses, pears, apples Finish: Ginger and some baking spices A very unremarkable whisky. Very smooth and easy to sip, it feels watered down. It's not bad, but it's very faint in both smell and taste and fades quickly afterwards. Good for beginners or as a mixer. Goes well with coke.
super smooth fun, light drink, amazing value! got 16 bucks and want a fun easy-drinking spirit to enjoy alone r with friends, can't think of too many better choices than this. it is VERY easy to drink but has a decent n distinct taste to it. tho a light refreshing, enjoy one.
Smells lightly of a vanilla caramel, with some alcohol burn. Taste is odd, camel vanilla and oak battle it out in a fashion I found largely unappealing. I bought this to satisfy a friend, and while the goodwill gesture didn't cost me much-needed I still found it wanting.
Clear, golden appearance, with a few alcohol legs. Nose- some standard, stereotypical grain whisky, with vanilla, oak, and nougat. Taste- similar, with, perhaps, some rye pepper spice. Mouthfeel is high to medium, and it lingers, a bit. To me, this is somewhat rough. RJT
Better than expected. Bring it to a party as a sipper, let people taste and be surprised how good it is because it's so much better than regular Black Velvet, don't feel bad about leaving I behind if you drank more of it than you expected.
