About this bottle

Blade and Bow Bourbon is named after the two parts of a skeleton key: the blade shaft and the ornate bow. Its name is a tribute to the five keys which hung at the Stitzel-Weller Distillery (1935-1992). Each key represents the five steps in creating a bourbon: grains, yeast, fermentation, distillation, and aging. This 22 year-old bourbon includes some of the last bourbon produced at the Stitzel-Weller Distillery before it closed in 1992.

Nose- peaches, ripe berries, caramel, vanilla, and a bit of oak. Palate- so well balanced. I thought that the oak would dominate but it didn't. This is very vibrant for an elder statesman which often are oak soggy. The proof is perfect and hits a sweet spot for me. There is honey, vanilla bean, a raisin type thing that plays in the background. No rough edges, just good, solid well aged bourbon. Finish- Medium finish with no ethanol burn, but hints of spice. Nicely done. Overall- This one was super good. Sampled it next to Michter's 25 and it was a tale of two cities. Where M25 was tannic and hot, BB22 hit the mark on all levels.

To be drinking what is some of the last of Stitzel Weller juice is definitely a treat A nice nose sweet, well rounded , caramel, oak hints that are reminiscent of an Old Crow Chessman dusty Palate holds up better than expected, mouth filling at a low 45/ 46% alc/ vol (drinking sample DO NOT HAVE ACTUAL BOTTLE) Same caramel, oak, with what I pick up as burnt brown sugar Finish - finishes off nicely not too long/ not too short -nothing negative here ... lots of flavor Current pricing is about 700/ bottle My 2 oz pour was possibly $50 at the most but was a half price bar special to go at the start of Covid CHEERS

I literally came out of my butt. This is the smoothest/best bourbon I've ever had. Pappy Van Winkle is pisswater compared to the this. The story and history of this dram make it that much better. I would Rumpelstiltskin my own child just to smell this again. FINAL VERDICT: 69/10

Fantastic nose. Peaches, vanilla, oak, grapefruit zest, looong peachy finish.
