About this bottle

Blanton's Gold Edition is made the same as the standard Blanton's Original Single Barrel--from a mash bill of corn, rye, and malted barley. Additionally, the barrels were sourced from Buffalo Trace's Warehouse H. The difference here is the proof. After chill-filtering, Blanton's Gold Edition is bottled at 51.5% ABV. The horse and jockey toppers still spell out "Blanton's," but they are both gold. Although this was originally only available in international markets and Global Travel Retail outlets, as of summer 2020 this will now be an annual release in the US.

BOTTLE No. // 88 DUMPED // 10.4.23 BARREL No. // 225 WAREHOUSE // H RICK No. // 57 NEAT NOSE - Candied cherries, Honey, Caramel, and Light oak PALATE - Palate follows the nose, but the intensity of each note varies with each sip. Given the proof, it’s impressive how bold the flavors are. The most impressive thing about this pour is the mouthfeel. This is easily the smoothest and most ‘silky’ bourbon I’ve had the pleasure of tasting. FINISH - Medium. Sweet honey and caramel with some oak on the back-end. BUY? - Absolutely, but I would hesitate paying over retail. Some stores can get crazy on their prices. I definitely wouldn’t pay if it’s more than 50 over retail. BUY AGAIN? - If Im lucky! I think I’d probably resort to paying retail myself in the future. My wife secured this one as a present for $40 over.

After some time, I have finally scored myself a Gold Blanton's. After having and enjoying the usually over hyped OG version, I needed to see what the fuss was about with this one. The nose was kind of reminiscent of the base. But there was an additional oak/wood character with a touch of cherry. The flavor was definitely a bit more enhanced probably due to the elevated proof which was surprisingly very smooth. The oak was accompanied by leather, tobacco, caramel, and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Rye spice emerged beautifully towards the finish. The oily body completed the package. I'd without a doubt purchase this again if the price was fair.

Nose: caramel, oak. A note i cant quite explain. Like gobs of honey covering #2 pencils. After the first sip and some air something very sweet and floral snuck out. Honey suckle? Body: thin to medium Palate: sweet pencil shavings. Second sip, lotta wood and a back palate of caramel. Finish: medium. Some peanut snuck out after a minute. Note: a random bottle offer from the good people at 1010. They are the best. First sip was like thats different. Sweet oak i think. The initial finish, first sip finish was quit long. A good dram. Different. Its like sucking on a #2 pencile thats been dipped in honey. Interesting.

A year open. Plenty of time to open up. Heavy oak and, according to my wife, baked apples on the nose. Sweet wood and apples. To taste: tobacco and leather; smokey. A sweet, medium finish. Honestly? I want to love this. I really do. But it's only a few points above average. I'm yet to try regular Blanton's, but if this so-called "premium" Blanton's is anything to go by, I'd take Eagle Rare any day over this. Especially at the premium price of Blanton's. The fact that people will overpay for this on secondary is unbelievable!

The nose smells like regular blanton’s, maybe a touch more floral. The palate is much lighter than regular Blanton’s, without the rye flavors on the front end. I had a mix of honey, citrus and floral notes. Finish is also pretty light albeit with some regular Blanton’s characteristics. To me it tastes like a state pick single barrel or a really good barrel of regular Blanton’s, with a much lighter floral palate. Wouldn’t pay much more than msrp for this bottle, however.

This is much better than I rember. We’ve been talking shit about Blanton’s for a few years about it being way overhyped and overrated for the price and rarity. *inserts foot in mouth* Quite the journey of flavors. Prominent oak and leather throughout with a soft caramel on the front, a cherry and dark chocolate undertone in the middle, then it bites you at the end with a fiery spice. Will be pulling this off the shelf again soon.
