There is not so much peat smoke on the nose, it is more of a marine and vegetable connotation, with a strong sweet and fruity component: apricot tart, ripe pear, milk chocolate, vanilla, marshmellow. It is a very humid smell, almost like undergrowth, which evokes the idea of a warehouse with walls soaked in ocean water. Along the length the smoke emerges more, of (obviously) wet and burnt wood. And it is the palate that is faithful to the name of this bottle, with the wooden ashes that fill the mouth, always with a strong moist and vegetable connotation. Oily and full, the gradation adds a spicy touch that goes well with the harmonics of red fruits and chopped hazelnuts, salted butter, dried dates. Slight background medicinal note. Medium long and medicinal finish, of ash, salt, toasted wood, chocolate. Whisky centered with respect to the title of the bottle, with the smoke present but not invasive, well representing the spirit of Bowmore without particular incisiveness. Taking into account the relatively low price, especially when compared to that of the first release, is a whisky that deserves to be tried.

I saw a new whisky for my records standing at my older brother's home bar and of course i opened it. It was this Bowmore Vault Edition Second Release, bottled at 50.1%abv. On the nose i get the typical Bowmore's honeyful peat, thick caramel and some tangerine citrusness. The palate waa all about Pepper, salt, spices like cardamom. Honey. Aftetaste was very smoky. Rich puffs of smoke and very salty. After some sips it followed the rythm or the honey, milk & salt. Overall, this was a very balanced and enjoyable Bowmore expression, maybe too easy drinkable for a 50.1%abv dram which makes it wonderfully dangerous. My score for it is 88 over 100.
Nose: Introduced with a light, fragrant campfire smoke that has hints of herbal notes. Leathery scents and medium toasted bread follow through. Fruits notes then come through, predominantly cherries, almost reminiscent of rootbeer or Dr. Pepper. Taste: Medicinal smoke hits instantly with rubbery notes and tar. The initial sweetness from the cherry and light herbal notes leads to a bitter dark chocolate note, reminding of a Cherry Blossom candy. Finish: A very long finish with everlasting smoke and creamy chocolate.
Mild and fruity on the nose with a soft peat. It is a fresh wooden fire smoke but it is coming through quiet sweet. It is not very intense on the nose but very inviting and smooth. The palate is equally nice. A base sweetness accompanied by a light leathery smokiness. Later there are also plums, canned pineapple, and some floral blossom aromas. Very enjoyable yet still a bid on the sharper side.
Aroma is farly faint, some oak and maybe a hint of iodine, but hard to pick out. Flavor is much stronger, tidal wave of wood and spice. Touch of peat to round it out, but excellent balance and fire. Medium to heavy richness to carry all the flavor. Exactly what you want a whiskey to be.
