Sweet & woody with notes of coffee and stewed fruit on the nose. Sweet, fiery and a little bitey on the palate with tastes of rich dark chocolate, fudge and a hint of salty air. Heavy, creamy mouthfeel with a medium, sinking finish.
About this bottle
Bruichladdich's Bere Barley single malt is made with bere (pronounced "bear,"), barley variety mainly grown in Orkney, Scotland. Making alcohol from bere dates all the way back to the 18th century. Where most barley types used are two-row, bere barley is six-row. Although it grows fast, it produces a lower yield. This expression is made from bere grown in 2008 and harvested for distillation in 2009 at Bruichladdich. It is unpeated, and bottled at 50% ABV.
