About this bottle

Distilled and matured at Old Bushmills Distillery, which has the title of the oldest distillery in the world, this Millennium Malt expression had almost 25 years to age and develop (though it carries no official age statement). A very rare and special whiskey that was taken from a single cask, and not chill-filtered before bottling at the turn of the millennium.

Cask no 157, Tasted two Bottles no 157 and 79. This whiskey was originally laid down in 1975 in bourbon casks with an eye on the millennium. Private investors were invited to purchase entire casks of the stuff long before it was bottled. What resulted is the longest aged Bushmills whiskey available. It has matured very well. Each cask was bottled unfiltered and taken down to 43% abv, with the label bearing the name of the cask owner, or whatever else they wanted to put on it. The whiskey was never intended to be released for general sale, but they do come up occasionally. Each cask will differ slightly in terms of flavour, but the general consensus is that they are very good whiskeys. There is no age statement on the bottles, but they're just about all 24 years old. (credit to published reviews - on which I built mine)

Cask 368 absolutely fantastic whiskey. Triple Distilled in 1975, bottled in 1999. 16 years in sherry hogshead and 8 in American Oak barrel. Sold by private cask only between 1994 and 1996. 350 casks in total. Between 250 and 285 bottles per cask. Most of it has been drunk. I didn't see the bottle, was just labeled bushmills. Hope this is it. A bit sharp in the middle, but smooth. Spicy buttery finish. Some woody notes. Brightens after ice is added without losing complexity.
