An intense, creamy 24-year-old Cameronbridge single grain Scotch whisky, independently bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company! Gaze upon the label and you'll find an icon of the sport of Tiddlywinks Dr. Patrick Barrie! That cool look upon his face is the look of a winner, as in mid-2017, the good doctor became the eight-time Tiddlywinks World Singles Champion! Batch 2 is a release of 171 bottles. It has an aromatic birth with notes of Mint imperials, dark chocolate, butterscotch, a hint of icing sugar & exotic spices; while a bold life adds notes of honey, Flying Saucer sweets, apricot-filled pastries, a hint of cinnamon & nutmeg; that led to a long death with notes of caramel sweeties & a hint of pistachio ice-cream. Another distillery I haven't tried and another combined Grain/Boutique-y whisky combo success! A 24 year old for around $80USD - seriously try and beat that in the single malt world! This is a bit like that Girvan I liked with the vanilla, butterscotch, cherry flavour combo but better. I couldn't drink a lot of it as 'that cherry flavour' as I call it is a bit offputting to me similar to lemonly peatyness or bitterness (but not as bad). Still perfect balance, smooth for 50.7% and I did try this after Black Art 4.1 and Dalmore Cigar and it held up. 4 - 4.25 I'll give it. 171 bottles so get in quick (I'm not sure how they make money on such a limited run?)
I have not had many single grains. Honestly I think prior to this it's only haig club and despite that being an offering from the same distillery haig club is not good so I was hesitant going into this one. I tried the 27 year old batch 3 but since there's no entry I'm entering my thoughts here. Notes of cocoa powder, hay, citrus and a bit of an almost barnyard funk. But not in an unpleasant way. Oldest whiskey I've tried to date.
