About this bottle

Cimarrón Blanco Tequila is distilled from 100% estate-grown blue weber agave and produced at Tequileña Distillery (NOM 1146), in the town of Atotonico el Alto. Master Distiller Enrique Fonseca developed a proprietary technique of crushing the cooked piñas (agave hearts) without the use of water. This results in a mash with a higher sugar content than most other tequilas. After distillation, this tequila is bottled unaged. Additive free.

Rating: 17/23 N: Bold, oily, savory. A funky cheese flavor reminiscent of what La Luna Cupreata has. Hints of lime. Quite challenging, but not bad. P: Whoa! This is really good! It's sweet, but funky and interesting and mellow. There are some funky cheese flavors, but they're much more subdued than the nose suggested. A bit of prickly spice way in the back. The sweetness is hard to place beyond just agave. A bit of bitter lime peel. Maybe very faint notes of yellow peach? There's a lot of interesting character going on here that manages to be both interesting and decadent. F: Lingering oiliness with that savory cheese and hints of bitter cooked lime peel. Lingering notes of agave stand out too. - Conclusion - This is really good! It's a shockingly good cheap tequila. We're talking like an alternative to Fortaleza. It's not on that level, but there's some great funkiness that really blends together well. It's great for sipping and for mixing. I'm thinking it's most likely around a 16, but it could be higher. Possibly a 15, but that seems low. Side by side, this is less rich than Fortaleza Blanco Still Strength (17/23), but it's sweeter with more distinct flavors and funkiness. It's kind of between that and La Luna Cupreata (16/23). This is sweeter though. Overall, this is on the sweet side and it's super smooth, with plenty of decadent complexity. I'm inclined to go with a 17 now. Honestly, an 18 is even in the picture. What a find!

Neat. Nose is agave forward with earth, vegetal, black pepper, slight citrus. Taste is true to nose with fruity agave, earth, black pepper, vegetal notes, slight mint toward the finish which is moderate and dry with some sweetness and earth. Not the most complex, but a solid blanco with no additives. Great price for 1L and this quality. Top notch mixer for even simpler cocktails

I love this tequila. It is a greatly underrated tequila and typically hard to find. It comes in 1 liter bottles. I like sipping this tequila and using this tequila as a mixer. It is light and fruity, crisp and clean tasting. It is a very inexpensive tequila which I believe causes most people to skip over it. The blanco is better than the reposado in my opinion.

Grassy, lightly vegetal, and sweet. Front of mouth flavor and then clean and gone quickly with no ethanol burn. Thin body, light flavor overall. I'm not sure I see the cult following except for price/quality and romance. A good mixer, and maybe sipping for someone who doesnt want anything complicated.

This is the gold standard of blancos. Straight. Up. Gold. I don't know how they do it where others fail, but this is legit. If you dig the style then this easily beats Clooney tequila and other ultra-premiums while barely breaking a sweat. Boss.
