Coldcock American Herbal Flavored Whiskey

The nose has a nice rich stamina that mixes fruit and herbs, sweet and dry. The nose reminds me a lot of a dry vermouth, but it's a bit fuller and more complex. I get plentiful citrus and some sweet herbs. It's harsh to pick out the particular scents, but they swirl in a complex way that makes it enjoyable to nose. Compared with a dry vermouth, this is on the sweeter side. It certainly doesn't smell as rich as a sweet vermouth, but it does smell richer and fuller than Noilly Prat Dry. I definitely like this nose better than Noilly Prat's, though it isn't like there's a tremendous difference in quality. The palate is very sweet with some nice herbal spiciness and mellow herbal flavors they are subtle and play together we'll while balancing the sweetness, richness, and bitterness. There's a bit of a cola flavor, but it isn't overwhelming and it doesnt come with that cola tin can flavor. I like the palate well enough, but it is a bit too sweet and in adding in the sweetness it muddled the other flavors unfortunately. This isn't a bad liqueur, but it isn't nearly as nice to sip as it is to nose. It lacks the clean sense of purpose that Wild Turkey American Honey has. It is smoother and richer with some added nice herbal complexity, including some nice spiciness that doesn't at all come across as harsh. Between the two, I'd say that this is a bit better, though it just kills me that this is so sweet. There's far less licorice than in Jagermeister (and let's be honest, that's the more obvious comparison), so there's less bitterness, but there's also less cola and tin can. I'd actually say that Jagermeister is a bit less complex and has a slightly inferior finish. How I wish this were less sweetened. Still, I think that this could be good for mixing in cocktails, especially with bourbon. It's just so unfortunate that it's so sweet. Still, I think that this is a pretty good liqueur. I'm surprised, but props to Coldcock.

Rating: 12/23 This is the last sip from my mini. This is still complex and generally tasty, but it's a tad more artificial than I'd remembered. It isn't terribly artificial, but I don't think it's as good as I previously gave it credit for. 12 seems more appropriate than 14.

I'ts like a Jaggermeister but it's made from bourbon. Very fruity, sweet and herbal. My brother brought me this from a trip. The best part, is the look of your friends, when you ask if they want a shot from your coldcock.

Wow. Super sweet. Doesn't seem high quality but I love the flavors. I'm a sucker for herbs and flowery flavors. Surprising that it's 70 proof, the alcohol is almost unidentifiable.
