About this bottle

This updated version of Dewar's 12 Year was released in September 2022. Dewar's Master Blender Stephanie MacLeod crafted this whisky and like previous iterations, it was made from a blend of up to 40 single malt and grain whiskies. But this updated version is also double aged in first-fill American oak ex-bourbon barrels. To reflect the new version, Dewar's 12 Year is packaged with a updated label and a clear glass bottle. (SRP $29.99)

Blind whiskey tasting with friends. This was the only scotch that made the lineup of 11 whiskies, which also means I'm probably overrating it a bit, but it was a welcome changeup from all of the bourbons and ryes that were tasted. Pretty classic blended scotch flavors, and I liked better than recent taste of the Dewars Portuguese. Also more flavorful than I expected for only 40%. I'd be willing to revisit.

Well this is a step back from the prior version. The nice fruity flavor saturation is gone. This has some malt and oak and traditional scotch notes but the grain presence shouts loudly and drops this out of rebuy status. This is less money but JW Black or Chivas 12 easily best this. It isn't bad by any means but not worth the time imo.......76/100.........put the 25 bucks toward something better

Nose: caramel and vanilla, with a touch of a dried fruit and ripe fruit combo, not very deep. Palate: nice sweetness of caramel, fruit, and grain or cereal notes. Has a slightly hot touch on the finish, peppery, ashy, oak. The used bourbon barrel definitely comes through. Not the worst and comparable to JW Black or others within the same price range.

The new Dewar's 12 year old Scotch Whiskey has lost its compass by trying to appeal to bourbon drinkers in the USA.Aromas of caramel and oak greet the nose. The palate is smooth with flavors of caramel and oak. The is a short finish of bitter grapefruit and oak.It fades away in mixers. with no real flavor even in a Scotch And Soda.

Mini dewars tasting! Nose: getting a decent citrus/orange peel with a gentle smoke, and a nice oaky char/vanilla Palate: spicy black pepper, citrus peel, nice oak tannin, vanilla, a moderate gentle smoke throughout. A nice bit of honey. Finish: a bit drying, a little tannic.

Gator Epp 3.5

Aromas of lemon peel, beeswax, cedar, dried sage, baked pear, and prune. Relatively light and round in the mouth. On the palate, more lemon peel, beeswax, prune, and cedar – plus vanilla and honey. Finishes fairly smooth, with solid length. 3.50/5.00 – Impressive (neat)
