This is a very unique gin, first time I tried it was a bad experience. fresh of the bottle it has a smell and taste of chardonnay that went bad. several weeks after opening the bottle, I tried it a 2nd time but I let it sit for a few minutes on ice before trying it. the result improved quite a bit but still a far cry for what you should expect on a $45 gin
Distillery No. 209 Chardonnay-Barrel Reserve Gin
About this bottle
This is one of three barrel-aged gins released in the Fall of 2015 from San Francisco's Distillery No. 209. A nod to their wine-making heritage, they take their flagship gin, which is distilled five times from Midwestern corn and include a mysterious combination of at least 8 botanicals. They then age it for around four months in French oak barrels previously used for the aging of chardonnay wine made by their sister winery, the Rudd Oakville Estate in Napa Valley. It is bottled at 46% ABV.
