C’mon, We’re smarter than this!! I don’t want to sound condescending ( with those words preceding what I’m about to write, yeah…it’ll be condescending), but how can any adult past his or her frat and sorority days have this!?? How can any one of us here, after having the lines of really good American bourbon and whiskey, Scottish whiskey , and others regions, actually voluntarily pay for this? I’ll tell you how. It’s called Universal Studios Harry Potter’s World of Wizardry. While my kids had their butter beer ( avoid it …it’s just a cream soda float), I thought I’d have their Whiskey Fire. Yes. That’s the Wizards’ whiskey here in Potterland…Whiskey Fire. I paid close to $10 for a shot of this, when an entire bottle is probably a fraction of that. It’s horrible. Just cheap whiskey and a bunch of cinnamon liqueur. Avoid it. Chalk it up to better marketing than Diageo…Universal Studio took a cheap bottle, and relabeled it adding Harry Potter wordings, and tripled the price. But on the bright side, after a week here in Disney and Universal Studios, maybe a smack across the face with cheap whiskey was just what I needed. It’s the Happiest Place on Earth, but also the most Exhausting…I now need another vacation after this endeavor.

This is just another “whiskey” for people who don’t drink whiskey. Tastes far more like cinnamon schnapps and candy than actual whiskey. It doesn’t taste like there’s any real Canadian whiskey at all in the recipe. It’s just whiskey flavored cinnamon schnapps with neutral grain spirits and a tiny splash of whiskey in order to navigate a loophole. Just stick with Goldschlager if you can’t handle the taste of actual whiskey.

With Fireball you know what you’re getting. It’s probably not a go-to for avid whisky lovers, but it has its place. On the nose is cinnamon spice. The taste seems artificially sweet but is instantly recognizable. It takes me back to childhood when my dad would buy hot tamales candy, red hots or big red chewing gum and let me have some. It has a long finish with medium heat.

Awful. If I were to have a cinnamon-flavored whiskey I'd rather have Jack Daniel's Fire. I like to say that Fireball is like... red hots and some whiskey. Jack Daniel's Fire is, however, whiskey and some red hots. Note the order I mentioned the words. You can tell Jack Daniel's Fire is whiskey, this crap is... well, crap. How it's called whiskey is anyone's guess.

First tasting of the evening. After few beers. Full bottle. Lots of sugar, but good balance of flavor. It looks like a sweeter and softer becherovka. Sticky! There is no alcohol in the smell or taste. The taste of whiskey is barely perceptible. Pleasant and warming spices like grog or mulled wine.

Whisky flavor with a strong cinnamon bite. Warms the palette going down. Nothing horrible about this stuff, it’s a sweet, sipping drink. Doesn’t go with food. Best as a quick nightcap ofer ice, long after dinner. Almost a dessert by itself. Don’t try to drink too much of this, just sip and enjoy.
