About this bottle

Laguna Madre is the oldest and rarest Texas straight bourbon from Garrison Brothers at eight years-old. The first four years are spent in white American oak barrels with the next four in French Limousin oak barrels. Named for the blue waters along the Texas gulf coast, there were 3,000 bottles produced for the 2024 release with the first thousand going to fans at the distillery release event in Hye, Texas on July 20, 2024. The remaining bottles will be available at limited bars, restaurants and retailers beginning August 2024. (SRP $349)

NEAT NOSE - Peach Cobbler covered with dark brown sugar and maple syrup. You also get the characteristic hay/barnyard note here but it is much more subdued and takes a backseat to the sweeter aromas. PALATE - The palate is oily and viscous. There is alot of sweetness upfront. Theres alot of fruit and brown sugar coupled with the maple syrup. I also get some hints of vanilla. The palate is smooth and approachable and the oak is very pleasant and sweet as well. I don’t get any tannic notes. FINISH - On the finish, the characteristic Garrison barnyard/hay note comes out but that is quickly overcome by notes of honey, brown sugar, and sweet oak. Medium length finish; I wish the finish was longer. BUY? - It’s so hard to recommend Garrison products such as this one based off of price. This is truly a unique experience, but I don’t think it drinks up to its price point. However, based off of limited availability and this being their oldest offering, I’d say pick it up if you like Garrison Brothers. Go Cowboy if you want something for cheaper with more proof and comparable complexity. This is more elegant and refined than Cowboy in my opinion. Cowboy drinks so much under it’s proof that I may actualy have to blind this against the two Cowboys that I have. At the end of the day, this is a very expensive bourbon, but if you love Garrison I dont think you’d regret it. BUY AGAIN? - Maybe another year’s offering.

Man i usually love garrison brothers but i regret buying this bottle. Bitter, overly oaked, tannic, and missing all of that honeyed g bros sweetness.
