First sniff and that waxy note hits immediately and just kinda parks itself front and center. There’s some sweetness trying to get through caramel, vanilla but the waxy thing won’t move out of the way. Smells odd. Not broken just weird. First sip? Same story. Waxy up front, waxy in the middle, like someone melted a candle near your glass. It’s not awful, but it’s distracting. Then, right at the end, it finally figures itself out. Deep brown sugar, caramel, vanilla show up late like they’re apologizing for being late to the party. Finish is actually solid just wish it got there sooner. Pairing wise? Keep it super mild or honestly skip the cigar. This isn’t a sit and savor pour it’s more of a yeah okay, I see what you were going for pour. Bottom line, Garrison Brothers Small Batch is drinkable but flawed. The waxy notes really hold it back, even though the finish tries to save it. Interesting? Sure. Enjoyable? Not my palette.
