Listen to me, i will spoil the conclusion of this whisky review. Go now and buy this single malt. It will change your whisky life; it is a terrific whisky as most Glendronachs, and it will certainly be in my top 5 whiskies tasted in 2023. Having said all that, Glendronach Batch 11, is a natural cask strength single malt bottled at 59.8%abv for extra flavor :) It was matured in Oloroso sherry casks and Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks, which has provided a lovely chesnut color to this baby. Nose is perfect. Palate is perfect. Aftertaste is perfect. Balance is perfect. Well, that is it, this whisky has been reviewed. Kidding aside, on the nose this is the most velevety sweet thing ever. Hazelnut, orange jam, figs, quince and something that i can only describe as a whisky chocolate. Almonds, school glue, coffee and cocoa. Marvelous. After a first sip, the aroma changed into red fruits, cranberries, Rum and raisins and the wonderful marmalade with chilli. Smores. It is incredible. On the palate, the show continues. Hazelnut, chocolate, wasabi, raisins. It has thisn winey profile; dates and impalpable sugar. Blackberry marmalade and red fruits. Caramel custard; Stroofwaffles. All of that, super clean flavors, powerful, beautiful. Aftertaste has a spicy profile that suits amazingly here. Chilli peppers, fruitspice, raisins. A dim saltiness and ginger. Invincible. Overall, this is a whisky from other planet. Glendronach is my favorite distillery, and they have given me some outstanding jewels like this one. You should find this, buy a couple of bottles and just enjoy it. I cant even score this because 100 points wouldn't even make justice for it. Slàinte Mhath my friends!!!
About this bottle
GlenDronach based in the Scottish Highlands is known for their sherried single malts, so it's no surprise that a combination of Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks were used for the maturation of this cask strength expression. The barrels were selected by GlenDronach Master Blender Rachel Barrie. This single malt carries no age statement and is bottled without chill filtration or added coloring. The 11th batch was released at 59.8% ABV. Available in the US beginning January 2023. (SRP $100)

Exactly what you'd expect. A great sherried scotch that packs a punch in both alcohol and flavor. Cask strength whiskeys are a little too much for me sometimes but im really enjoying this one. Its got my ideal flavor profile with the sweetness of the sherry combined with that little toasted/char flavor without smoke or peat. This is probably tied with blue spot for me in terms of favorite cask strength whiskeys. Id give the edge to blue spot in terms of mouthfeel though. $100 for a 700ml bottle aint cheap but can't complain considering the quality and it being 60%.
Lovely sherry sweetness greets both the nose and the palate. Rich, deep and enveloping flavors coat the tongue with notes of toffee, caramel, a burst of sherry, light roast coffee, milk chocolate, new leather and oak stave. Really a delight, the finish is medium long and ends semi-dry. A beautiful Highland Scotch that is a real bargain for the whisky lover. Highly recommended.
Nose: A luxurious blend of dark fruits, rich sherry, and warming spices. Palate: Intense flavors of ripe berries, dark chocolate, and oak, with a vibrant layer of spice. Finish: Long and compelling, with a cascade of sweet sherry, oak, and a lingering spice warmth.
Bottle kill. This is/was a great bottle. Still with an ice cube. Rich, semisweet and juicy with orange marmalade, dried red fruits, honey, mulled wine, sweet tea and baking spice notes. Long finish mixes sweet, bitter and spicy notes.
Neck pours. Really nice nose and flavors on the palate. Sherry bomb. I needed ice myself. Will be interesting to see how this develops with time open.
