This just sounded like such a gimmick, cashing in on the Mad Men craze and all. But, hey, looks are deceiving. This very light colored dram comes in a beautiful metal tin. It greets you with this apple oatmeal scent. It goes in fruity, touch of honey on oatcake. It's got a polite finish, doesn't linger. Love this. It's just an uncomplicated drink to end a complicated day.
About this bottle
In 1963, Glenfiddich more or less invented the commercial of category of "single malt." The Original is an attempt to recreate the feel and flavor of that iconic first malt. It really is your grandfather's whisky!

I was pleased and disapointed all at the same time. As the slogan says "This is your grandfather's whisky" I was expecting something so much more robust and oily. Something that could have built me a cabin after fishing. A very good whisky but I do believe this is Glennfiddich 12 masquerading around in a wolf costume.
Very similar to the 12 Year. No obvious difference between the two, although I didn't compare them side by side. Not currently available in Ontario. It was over the holidays and I believe it was $100.
Very smooth. I taste a nutty flavor, with limited sweetness. End of the drink has a pleasant saltiness to it, as if they had lined the rim. Very little backend burn, which surprised me. Good drink.
Citrus on the nose, with mineral medicinal note. Like a flinstone vitamin. Earthy and organic, very light smoke. Strong acetone taste early, but dilutes well. extremely dry, low oil mouthfeel
I love this for half the price. Didn't find as simple as some of the ratings. Tons of gingerbread, green apple and toffee to keep me smiling well into a second glass.
