Another long overdue review. I’ve had many a pour and a couple of bottles of this stuff, and have yet to give this a proper review. I don’t think this needs much an intro as the entry level offering of Glengoyne—a somewhat under-appreciated but fairly prominent Highland distillery. Nose: Gala apple, pear, apricot, and white grape. Through in some orange citrus and golden raisin. It’s light and fruity, similar to its older brother, the 12. There’s also vanilla, caramel, toffee, malt, and butterscotch. A classic Highland malt. Rounded with toasted almond and walnut, with a hit of oak spice. Some ginger as well. Palate: Chewy caramel, vanilla, toffee, and malt. Plenty of butterscotch. More of the walnut and almond. White grape and golden raisin. A touch of white chocolate. Heavily floral. Marshmallow and honey. Apple, pear, apricot. Sugar cookie. Finish: Caramel, toffee, butterscotch, and vanilla. Sugar cookie and brown sugar. Milk chocolate. Toasted almond, walnut, and oak. Medium length finish. Solid entry level whiskey. This has a classic Highland profile. And while it may not be the most unique, it is one of the cleanest and most well-rounded representations of its region you’ll find. Especially at the cost. This has seen a price hike, as has everything since I first bought it. But it’s still very reasonable at $50. More than enough of a bargain to have me coming back for more. 3.75 boosted to 4 even for VFM.

Glengoyne is often called "the Glendronach Killer" but in my experience it has never ever lived to that name. I have had some of their fancier expressions, but incredibly i have never tasted the 10yo before. Now it is time for me to review one of the iconic whiskies from the scottish highlands. Bottled at 40% abv. On the nose, not bad. Hay, shortbread, danish cookies. A little rough and grainy; it smells like a mountain field. Peach and Chocolate after letting it breath. Vanilla On the palate, it has a chocolate and nutty note at the beggining. A little rough and grainy. Acetone. The second sip gave me creamy vanilla and chocolate. Aftertaste is simple but very appealing. Salty, sulphuric and a little Short, but with a wonderful chocolate ending. Overall, for a not expensive 10yo, this is a very enjoyable dram. I believe that most fans have tried this and for the price it goes, they feel it is hard to beat. Maybe that is why this distillery have so many fans. A good offering, very balanced although a little rough, my score for it is 80 over 100.

Absolutely excellent bottle of scotch for the price of admission. I had the luxury of visiting the Glengoyne distillery and touring it on my Honeymoon in Scotland. I can say without a doubt that Glengoyne is a premium distillery that absolutely takes pride in the drinks they produce. I think the 10yr is honestly slept on. It's light, small hints of green apple, smooth, and just a wonderful dram to sip on. Look into Glengoyne! One of my favorite highland scotches, but I'm biased of course.
Nose: Woody, green/herbal, milky Palate: Barley, wood/oak, buttery mouthfeel, milk chocolate, coffee Finish: Long finish. Salty, wood/oak, milk chocolate. This is not a complex whisky at all. Slightly hot, but a pretty middle-of-the road, spirit forward dram. It's tasty enough, chocolatey and woody, it a little thin on the palate for it's 40%. Generally OK.
Had to wait until near the end of the bottle to truly appreciate this one. Speysides tend on the demure, so I find a lot of warming up is in order. After all, exceed ny expectations with a rainsiny nose leading to oatmeal bite to punctuate a disticntly musty floral body. Similar to the geese it’s named after, narrow nose - wide body - definitive finish. Cheers!
