Total Score : 3.25 [Eng] [Nose] - Smooth sherry scent (feels different from other sherry finishes) - The scent of Noble Rot(=Botrytized) wine. - Sweet and little little musty scent that comes from the end of the scent. - Strong scent presence like sugary fruits such as peaches. - Nutty flavor is also a little smelly. [Palete] - A palpable difference in sweetness. - Little bitter [Finish] - Sweet - Dry but spicy is little more stronger.
About this bottle
In case your French isn't quite up to speed, "Nectar d'Or" translates to "golden nectar". The nectar under discussion is Sauternes, a white dessert wine from the Bordeaux region. The wine is tremendously sweet, fruity, and has a great deal of acidity which livens up your palate. The Glenmorangie Original has been finished for an additional two years in ex-Sauternes casks to create this bottling. Please note: As of summer 2019, this product is now a no-age statement (NAS) release. Please refer to that NAS bottling in a separate listing.

NOSE Honey, malt, sultanas, dried apples, vanilla cake, bananas, light melon rind, wax and spice. The aroma is nice. It’s pleasant, it’s sweet, it’s interesting, but things really kick off with this one with what comes next. PALATE Honey, malt, cocoa, cinnamon, dried apples, banana, vanilla, sweet oat cookies, pears, white grapes, peaches and butter. Mmmm. The palate is richer and more expressive than aroma. It carries a depth that keeps you coming back for more. FINISH Med -long -> Malt, vanilla, toffee, fruit and cocoa with a touch of oak on the slow fade.
Golden hue and the nose comes the citrus, honey, vanilla and warm spices like nutmeg. There's coconut somewhere lingering behind. Very light body and delicate on the tongue. On palate, the spices you feel first, they are light , there's a ginger followed by the citrus zest. Warm spices again on the finish but short. Lovely dram, for what it represents, it uncomplicatedly light, with your favourite tasting notes which are in harmony and compliment each other well. Most importantly sweet, I feel like I'm having a desert after dinner with this dram here.
As soon as i out the glasd to my nose honey and warm apple pie come on strong. The mouthfeel is rich and buttery, honey and apple persist on the palate with a warm earthy, woody tone that is usually present in Scotch but without any harshness or bitterness. I’m not a scotch drinker generally as I prefer Bourbon and tequila. However, the ex-bourbon barrel aging meant this was up my alley and Glenmorangie has a good reputation overall. For someone who is not crazy about Scotch or just wants a great pour under $70 (for me)that’s why i had to give 5⭐️
This Glenmorangie keeps its signature taste and adds more flavors into it. A 12 year old aged in Sauternes casks brings a light gold color and a fruity taste to it. On the nose - lemon, lemongrass, honey, some herbal as well. On the palate - lemon cake with cinnamon and pepper in the end. The herbal notes with lemongrass and grass are also present. Very good dram. Light, balanced, with a great spicy finish. Very worth it! Cheers!
Nose: hints of white grape, citrus peel, bits of stonefruit (apricot comes thru), honey. Palate: smooth, slightly buttery, does taste golden. Wood spice is present. Vanilla cream. I do see hints of coconut. Sweet. Creme brulee. I really like this! Elegant and creamy. Finish: gentle warming, bright and a bit citrusy,
