I arrived in PEI from the Pacific coast of Canada and I was intrigued to pick up this bottle to try over my two week visit to Atlantic Canada, which is coming to an end (both the bottle and the trip). Nose: Ripe fruits are forefront, particularly peaches, but there are also some light citrus notes, including grapefruit and lemon zest. There is a hint of fresh cut grass. I'm not getting much oak or other notes here and my initial impression was that it smelled young, confirmed when I read here that it was 6 years. Palate: Initially some sweet vanilla presents and is prominent through the tasting. Some mild cinnamon spice emerges with some brown sugar in the background. There is some slight citrus mid-palate. Finish: Surprisingly long, with a nice grainy, chewy finish. A lingering burn is consistent with the young age of this. Overall, this was surprisingly good. It tastes young but I think it has a lot of potential. So much so that I have picked up a bottle of their 10 year old single malt (Glen Breton), which I will try upon my return!

This was a hard find. Had to drive into BC Canada to dig up the last bottle at a Canadian liquor store. And it was well worth the hunt. Yes, its a Canadian whiskey, but don' let that fool you. This one was worth the trip. The proof is 86, and this whiskey drinks very smoothly. It has subtle, sweet flavors that remind a bit of Japanese whiskey, but with vastly different tastes. The nose is a mix of grapefruit, dried apricots, ginger and sweet icing. It has a playful decadent scent. The taste matches the smell closely, with added light musk, hints of dry-roasted hazelnuts, hot popcorn and a long note of licorice. Overall, pretty good and quite different.

Aged 6 years in Bourbon barrels - Cork seal - 43%abv. Tastes young but the faintest hint of sweet and obvious scotch inspiration make it pleasant.
