SO to scott who grabbed me this on his trip to the highlands! this starts with some toffee, vanilla bean, tannic oak, cinnamon and mild white pepper, burnt oranges, earthy but complex peat smoke races to the finish that is also complex and long, showcasing tannin, peat and vanilla. fantastic dram and happy i was able to try a whiskey straight from the oldest working distillery in scotland.

Beautiful aroma, there a wet peat smoke reminiscent of Laphroaig but with some fruit underneath. Flavor is much lighter than expected, I don't get a huge amount of hit or burn up front. Some light fruit flavor, strawberry or some sort of berry, then blending into peat on the tail. Lacking richness, but I feel like I never get berry and peat paired. It works, easy to drink.
