I actually like this one, even though it doesn’t fall into my usual preference range. It’s not a very sweet bourbon, but it’s interesting and unique and pleasant. Color: a deep Golden honey Nose: Chocolate is immediate. After that is tobacco and hay. Earthy. First taste neat: the earthiness continues. I can taste peanut and oak, a little bit of cocoa, and some tobacco. Yeasty bread notes. Not a lot of sweetness. Very little burn. I’d say it’s like a peanut butter and honey sandwich. Adding water opens up some sweeter notes, like caramel corn. Finish is super long. I’m still breathing tasting notes a full minute after it’s gone. It’s actually pretty great neat, but adding water adds some great layers of flavor.

Very smooth notes, a long but soft lingering finish of vanilla, muted baking spices from the kitchen, layered over with a hint of toasted oats. Comforting! Warm! From Tennessee. This beautiful straight bourbon, whiskey is non-chilled filtered to preserve its mature flavor. I would recommend you drink this straight up with very little ice. Only ice if you really need it. Why did they call it? Heavens door? Because Bob Dylan is the cofounder.
Not at all what I expected. Smelled of acidic formaldahyde with tones of wood. We even had to rinse out the glasses in order to get a drop or two of water residuals to get the aromas to come through. Even in my "Bourbon Junkies" Glencairn glass. I wouldn't buy it. Unless maybe it was the only thing in a gas station hundreds of miles from civilization.
I like this bourbon a little bit better than the Heaven’s Door rye. It’s a little bit smoother, and being a bourbon, it’s sweeter than the rye. There’s a good vanilla flavor on the tongue, and the finish is long with a little bite from the alcohol. It’s much more expensive than the varieties in the core Heaven’s Door range, but it is better.
Received as a Fathers Day gift so score is automatically higher than if I had paid for it 😎. It’s a very good bourbon, very smooth and drinkable, but for the price there are better options for a 10 year old bourbon. The packaging and presentation are very nice which is one reason my son got it for me - many thanks for a thoughtful gift!
Great pour, more spice than I like normally. Smooth though and I like the lingering spice. Some toasted corn in the beginning and a hint of burnt brown sugar at the end under the spice finish.
