My last(first) tequila review was enough fun to make me want "More Please Suh", so here goes nothing. Nose: WOW... smokey, sweet, spicy, flavor packed nose, this really makes me regret not trying Herradura long ago.. scotch drinkers take note, exciting stuff smells like it lives here.. but will the taste live up to the promise? Starts slow and fades in to strong agave tinged burn the sweetness and smoke on the nose are apparent, it burns a little longer than I would like but nothing terrible, and the final notes are a bit of acrid baked sprout plant along with the roasted sugar quality that is wholly unlike bourbon sugars. Mild black pepper spices but nothing too rich. Likable enough, and while the body doesn't quite offer up the same level of character and excitement as the nose, it's really not that far off. It would be fair to say the "smoke" is more of a scotch like than some American mesquite style, not what I would expect but still pleasant. For a relatively low priced tequila this is certainly a bottle good enough to drink or mix, but I wouldn't want to throw a bunch of margarita lime in it and ruin the character, it stands up well enough to be enjoyable. Cheers!

This is a lot better than the Blanco. It's light and grassy with some nice citrus. It has some sweet flavor along with the grass and prominent lemon and lime. Some butterscotch makes it in along with a little bit of sweet and rich nuttiness, a bit like peanut brittle. It doesn't taste as strong as 1800 Reposado perhaps, but it is close and it has a lot of good flavors and solid richness. It's amazing what a step up this is from the Blanco. The nose is kind of sweet and interesting with notes of hay, strawberry, white pepper, and light caramel. The palate is balanced with a moderate strength and an interesting cast of flavors. I get some grassy flavors mixed with pineapple, lime, brown sugar, and white pepper. It's a tad fiery, but in a good way. It's sweet and fruity and herbal and earthy. Some scotch smoke comes through too and so does some nice vanilla. There's definitely some clove in here, which I'm not a big fan of. The agave is quite present though, which is really nice. I'm not a huge fan of the hay flavor, but it's interesting to sip.

A clean Agave Spirit by Brown - Forman Disitillery in Lowland, Mexico. It is double distilled in pot stills & aged for 11 months in new American white oak barrels. It has an aromatic birth with hints of cooked agave, ginger biscuit, anise, fruits, toffee, dill & sage; while a rich & delicate life adds notes of vanilla butter, dried fruits, dry oak, sandalwood, spice & beeswax; that led to a quick & balanced death with a hint of cinnamon, white pepper, honey & linseed oil. Straw color on the pour. Alcohol is prominent on the nose with faint agave and the slightest hint of vanilla. Cooked agave, slight smoke, vanilla and black pepper going down. That alcohol scent is minor while tasting. Medium mouthfeel and medium finish. This is a good, affordable reposado. I really liked the Herradura Silver and in comparison, the reposado has a bit more vanilla and smoke going on. The silver was a bit more "earthy", but not in a bad way. I would recommend both.

Neat. Nose is pleasant. agave, caramel, vanilla, fruity, not much burn. No surprises in the taste. Medium mouthfeel. Sweet oak, agave, light caramel, slight vanilla, pears, chocolate near the end. Finish has some tartness, burnt sugar, cedar, saccharine. Overall, not bad. Additives are there, but restrained. Not my favorite añejo, even at this price point, but better than many and easily found at many watering holes

Neat. Nose is sweet, strong red caramel apple, vanilla, oak, and herbal with a little heat. Taste is honey/caramel, candied apple, vanilla, anise, oak with a sweet sucralose finish with cinnamon, anise, and allspice. Medium mouthfeel Undeniably tasty. Reminds me of fall..but seems like it does have some additives with the caramel, sweetness, and apple
