The 2024 Bourye release from High West features a mix of straight rye and straight bourbon whiskeys aged a minimum of 10 years. The blend includes two straight rye whiskeys — one from MGP (95% rye, 5% barley malt) and another from High West Distillery (80% rye, 20% malted rye) — and a straight bourbon whiskey from MGP (75% corn, 21% rye, 4% barley malt). Oh man. Absolute tannin bomb. i get mild toffee, a flash of berries, then massive wave of tannic oakiness, some herbal notes as well as spice, anise and oak dominate the long and dry finish. im gonna be honest this one was kinda a miss for my palate. ive never had any previous bouryes so im not sure how previous batches have been. Wasnt bad but i wasnt a fan.
