Besides Caledonian and Girvan, Invergordon is by far my favorite grain distillery. Notes of custard, honey wafers and marzipan emerge from the Glencairn before it gravitates towards chamomile, sage and ginger candies. The honeyed and creamy arrival gives way to Werther's Original, measured wood spices and herbal notes, striking a balance between sweet and bitter flavors. Oily mouthfeel. Hints of almonds, fresh mint and subtle tannins round off the lingering finish. In my humble opinion, old single grains are still largely overlooked and underestimated.
