About this bottle

Jack Daniel's No. 27 Gold is the original Old No. 7 Tennessee Whiskey that has been barreled and charcoal-mellowed twice. It ages in new, charred American oak before finishing in maple wood barrels. This was initially released in 2013 at Singapore’s Changi International Airport as a Travel Retail exclusive, with wider availability beginning in 2015. UPDATE: As of April 2019, this is now available in the US.

N: Banana, cinnamon, caramel, oak char, touch of maple (like a maple cookie, not syrup), cherries, vanilla. P: Banana, caramel, cinnamon, butterscotch, oak, more pronounced maple than on the nose, which adds something of a smoothness - reminiscent of Gentleman Jack. F: More maple, leaning toward maple candy now, butterscotch, cinnamon, oak. This is one of my absolute worst whiskey buys. This is JD Old No. 7 with just a hint of maple influence, which is fine - I like Jack and I have fond memories of maple cookies from my childhood. The two flavors meld and merge nicely. In fact, I may just buy some maple cookies to go with my next bottle of Jack. And that together will probably cost about $20, not the $110 this one set me back. And it came from a big box store that doesn't really do secondary markups, so that has to be pretty close to MSRP (unless I'm just missing something). There's nothing wrong with the juice here, but it is not worth the squeeze. It's a $30 bottle at best, and that might be generous. It's probably a 3.5 for the whiskey, but docking a full point for the ridiculous cost. ____________ Please come join an unofficial Distiller community on Discord (now one whole year old!): https://discord.gg/4nfePCdyKM. This in my opinion is a highly underrated product. I see this on the shelf all the time and can’t believe it hasn’t been snatched up. First off it’s just a good looking bottle and if you get the box with it even better. The gold is insanely smooth, does have a sweeter nose and palate, honey, maple, vanilla, banana. I didn’t experience the ash or bitterness as others have suggested. If you wanted to get someone started on whiskey and pull out a cool bottle at a party this is a good choice. If you like a burn/spice then this isn’t going to be for you. The flavor for me really shines in this one and just the uniqueness, I stress again, of how smooth this was. Had it not been for those I would rate this lower for a couple of key items, price, proof, and age. Price retail is going to be in the $90-$110 range or should be, it’s a NAS but estimated to be 4-6 years, and bottled at 80 proof. I can go low or high on proof and still enjoy it. Now the combination of the 3 some might issue with and I don’t disagree. That’s a pretty high price for what it is. You could easily find other quality bourbons or whiskeys for a lower cost, longer aged, and higher proof. I would only recommend drinking this neat, no water, no ice, no mixer just to get the full effect of the flavor of this one. If you like regular Jack Daniels you should like this one. Cheers!

On the nose prevails coconut, smoked corn and honey, with an artificial resin note. For those who buy "crystal balls" when child, well, the smell is just that! On the palate honey and fruit cake, and above all coconut: sweet and dense, superb. Honey finish with artificial notes of resin and petrol, and always crystal ball.... long and pleasant, which slightly anesthetizes the throat. Nothing to say, great product just good and pleasant to drink. So far the best USA whiskey I drunk. If I had to drink a spirit for breakfast to start the day in the best way, maybe this could be it! Exceptional dram for me. Per me bevuta eccezionale.

Maybe the best expression of Jack Daniel's i have tasted so far. This No. 27 Gold is a very sweet, easy drinkable whiskey with clean aroma and tasting notes. On the nose it is wonderful. Almost perfect. Honey, Prunes, Maple syrup, Molasses, Grape juice, Thick caramel. Complex and sweet, Pepper spice. The honey on this is something else, Clove. On the palate it is too straightforward but still a good dram. Vanilla, rum and molasses. Aftertaste is very good too. Very sweet. Honey, pepper and burnt hay. Very pleasant. Overall this is one good whiskey. For only one point it didn't make it to the 4.5 stars. 89 over 100.

COLOR: Rich Goldenrod. NOSE: Banana-Cherry, with more ‘nana than cherry. There’s that ever-present nosing of furfural alcohol that is found in most of JD brands. There’s also some oak & leather too. TASTE: The first taste is one of the flavors “rolling” within my mouth; it’s creamy, vanilla dash caramel, with hints of oak and maple woods. But, a very goooood taste and an enjoyable drink! FINISH: Wonderfully smooth, but a very short & “clean” finish. I could drink this neat throughout the day.
