About this bottle
Jack Ryan's, also known as the "Beggar's Bush" by locals, is one of Dublin's oldest existing pubs, dating back more than a century. This whiskey celebrates that centennial milestone, and is a revival of the Jack Ryan brand, which stopped production in 1946 when the Dublin Whiskey Distillery (DWS) shuttered. The bottle depicts the pub in 1913 when it opened, with an image of Jack Ryan himself and his signature. The sourced whiskey matured for 12 years in ex-bourbon casks and is non-chill filtered.

Nose has a light caramel note with light fruity note coming through, reminiscent of a chardonnay. Some earthy/musty note is showing at the end. Initial taste was sweet and earthy, though the most noteworthy thing is the strong finish which is spicy, oaky and malty which lingers on the palate. This whiskey seemed to open up more with the fruit notes as it sat in the glass.
Nose: Sweet ripe orchard fruits like a nectarine or apricot. Honey and vanilla creep in as it opens more. Palate: A lot more honey and vanilla develop. A bit of oakiness as well mixes with that ripe nectarine/apricot from the nose. Finish: The ripe fruit turns more to an orange like zest and cedar wood box like character.
Light barley hit first, then oak after. Pretty rich, nice creamy tail. The richness makes it quite lovely, and I feel like I get hints of honey and salt as well. Not too grassy like I usually tend to get from Irish whiskies, so points for that as well.
Smells of vanilla with a touch of smoke. Light bodied, honeyed, not too warm, extremely smooth, easy going down. I get little tart fruity aspect on the finish that is quite pleasant. A bit pricey but a well made, drinkable whiskey.
Sweet and orange on the nose. The orange plays the lead role at the start. There is some honey and vanilla. And has some of the fruity spicy notes like sherry in the finish. A very nice Irish whisky!
