A balanced, Blended Irish Whiskey by the Midleton Distillery made from a blend of two pot still Whiskeys & a single grain is matured in Oloroso Sherry casks & finished in Bourbon barrels for 6 months. It has an aromatic birth with notes of orange, apricot, dried fruits, chocolate, bourbon biscuit, hints of wood & toffee; while a smooth life adds notes of caramel, honey, spice, hints of oiled wood, leather, creamy vanilla, Turkish delight & a Sherry nuttiness; that leads to a long & balanced death with notes of oak, spice, toffee & unmalted barley. About this bottle
This is a blended whiskey that is triple distilled, fairly standard fare for Jameson. For the 18 year however, the master blender selects whiskey casks aged 18 years (or older) that previously contained Sherry or Bourbon. The majority of the whiskey chosen is aged in the former. They are then re-barreled in 1st fill bourbon barrels for an additional 3 years.

Frankly sometimes i think Jameson bottles fall from the sky for me to taste them. Tonight i was invited a dram of this baby, the house owner was hyped about it and it really is a good whisky. Very similar to a Macallan 18yo. Bottled at 40%abv, burnished gold color. On the nose, creamy. Vanilla ice cream, cinnamon stink, caramel. Lovely. On the palate, creme brulee, brown sugar and clove. Finish medium, liquorice and spices. Overall it didn't change my life but it is a good dram. 88 over 100 my score for it.
Hints of banana, clove, and vanilla on the nose. Sip starts very smooth but light, almost a banana custard before providing notes of clove and very faint undertones of something bright - lemon zest or sumac. Finishes almost smoother than it started. While I don't get a lot of flavor variety out of the 18 year, I appreciate it's relaxed nature sometimes.
Has so much more flavor than the original Jameson, absolutely loved it! My only wish is they didn’t proof it down to 40% what a waste of 18 years to proof such an incredible whiskey down to 40% . Especially for how much you pay for this whiskey. Would definitely drink this again, but I would never buy a full bottle again.
I had this along with Jameson and their Barrel Select side by side by side and this really stands out above those. It still has the "bitter" Jameson finish, however, I found it less "harsh." I would defiantly drink this again neat, with a rock, or a splash.
Whiskey extravaganza #3 This is good - it’s more interesting than standard Jameson but even an 18 year old whiskey can only be so good when it’s been neutered down to 40%. I’ll save my money and grab a Redbreast 12CS or Tyrconnell 16 instead.
