Jefferson's 21 Year Presidential Select

A creamy, Straight Bourbon Whiskey by Trey Zoeller & his father Chet for Kentucky Artisan Distillery in Kentucky. It was not distilled at Stitzel Weller like earlier Presidential Select releases, this bourbon was produced from 15 lots of whiskey aged 21 to 24 years old; in a cooler area of the warehouse. Once blended, these translated to 2,000 cases. It has a rich birth with notes of toffee, wood spice & leather; while creamy & balanced life adds notes of oak, honeycomb, walnut, polish, sweet vanilla, peach, lime, pepper & rye spice; that led to a long, aromatic & oily death with notes of fragrant caramel, hints of bitter orange, toasted & charred oak. The color is a vibrant amber with plenty of oils streaking down the glass. The nose is pleasantly oaky with an earthy rye spice along with brine, sweet molasses, butterscotch, dried flowers and vanilla. The palate is a great balance of oak and rye spice forming a dry but rich palate with subtle hints of baking spices. There is subtle dried flowers and vanilla that rounds it all out for a very balanced experience. The finish is medium long with a wonderful lingering oak while the rest of the palate fades into it.

Released in 2013, with no wheat. Not a Stitzel-Weller source. Barcode of 8-14794-01056-1 Medium range of taste, but without the depth I was hoping for. Some citrus and a lot of spice, plus notes of leather. Almost no burn to it — very smooth. A long finish with a good bit of sour.

Very smooth. I like scotch whiskeys a little better but this was "smooooooth".. know what I'm sayin?
