Review #41 - Whisk(e)y #27 Tasted as part of the free sample offer in Budapest airport, therefore I cannot provide a detailed aroma description as I usually do. Nose - sweet, vanilla, honey, round, fruity, ripe red fruit, influence is much more evident than on the black label, the flavours being less proeminent but integrated much more seamlessly. Palate - same idea as on the nose is replicated on the palate, sweet, soft, vanilla, ripe red fruit, honey, some oak, round, a bit more refined than the black label, perhaps with some dried fruit as well. Finish - short medium, well rounded, sweet, fruity, a bit of alcoholic spice, but also some dried fruit on the after-taste. More refined and much better than the Gold Label, but I am unsure whether it is worth double the price of the Black Label. Dolgun. Yumuşak ve tatlı. %40 alkolün tek hissedildiği an kısa bitişin sonu. 78/100
Really enjoyed this. I got fig, plum, black cherry, some red currant, raspberry and a even hint of gooseberry and mango on the nose. The mouthfeel is creamy and smooth with the signature Johnny Walker smoky notes creeping in very late and subdued. The finish is medium to long with lingering sherry, raisin, berry and a nice salty sea pebble coastal note. Sits nicely next to my favourite Green Label, and at a couple of hundred yen more that the Black 12, excellent value for money at ¥3,518 / $22 / £17...
I'll tell you what.... Such a strong kick, but it's that kind of "whiskey kick" I can't quite pinpoint what that taste is. I'm getting a slight medicinal taste that I don't usually like. But weirdly I like this one (when normally I don't like medicinal)..
I like the fruity notes, and the full flavor
Fruity, stone fruit, quite sweet, no peat
