Cracked a sealed vintage 1.75L bottle my parents had properly stored from the 80s. Visual: amber gold. Slow, beaded thin legs. Nosing: lots of caramel and Toffee. Rum raisin ice cream and a hint of honey. A lot of fruitiness and a very faint, subtle smoke. Golden sugar hits the back of the nose. Tasting: sweet and a very smooth, inoffensive smokiness. Caramel and syrup. Some warning alcohol and warming spices; namely some cinnamon and nutmeg. Decently good body with a short and dry finish. Reduced Nosing: some more fresh fruitiness comes through, but not much change. Reduced Tasting: alcohol burn lessens with added water. More comforting sweetness comes through. Aged smoked leather and oak. A pleasant dram from a by-gone era. For Johnnie Walker Red, it's a pretty great dram!
