Blind tasting Nose: peaty but sweet, lagavulin or ardbeg Taste: light peat, hint of pineapple, slightly thin. Hint of rubber. Cask type: bourbon Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.75 Notes: Favorite so far in the advent calendar but don’t need a bottle Lagavulin rum? Would be a stretch
About this bottle
This limited edition peated (50 PPM) single malt is a marriage of casks (Casado is Portuguese for "marriage"). The whisky was distilled in 2014 and initially matured for at least 6 years in ex-bourbon barrels. 38 of these casks were married together and finished in two 6,000-liter Portuguese red wine casks. It was bottled non-chill filtered at 46% ABV in 2022, limited to 12,900 bottles worldwide, 1,500 of which were released in the U.S.
