Gigiomix 3.5

On the nose leather and light peat, on the palate initially weak, then it takes vigor with raisins, sherry, saline and always a slight excellent peaty. Medium-short peaty, "sherrioso" and dried fruit finish, which at a certain moment disappears totally without leaving a trace. An easy-to-drink whisky, good, but I hoped it had a little more distinctive character: I liked more, precisely because "different", 100% Islay.

(Good Spirits Co. Glasgow Virtual Whisky Tasting 25 June 2020) 100% Oloroso sherry butts from 2007, 2008 & 2011. Upfront you get a blast of peat, TCP and salt air. The first taste is quite drying but is fresh and young, with some orange peel and applewood. The finish is medium long, with more oak and golden syrup. A nice peaty, sherried dram. Came third out of the six whiskies, with 20% of the final vote.

Nose: Lighty smokey, strawberry jam, honey, and a little bit of oak. Palate: Honey, strawberry, dark fruits on the front end. Blends with campfire ashy smoke. Some earthy notes. Finish: Campfire smoke transitions into cacao, tobacco, maritime notes. This is a scotch to keep an eye out for! I tad pricey for what it is but I’m glad I picked this one up.

Nose: very much peat smoke, under the smoke plum, rubbery notes, raisins. Palate: sweetness, ashy, pungent spices Finish: smoke, sulphury and nutty notes. Bitterness. Medium. Very oaky.

Excelente balanceamento entre sheery e turfa. Potente, com personalidade ímpar. Harmoniza bem com carnes vermelhas, pratos defumados e firmes. Bem diferenciado.

samact 4.5

Peaty, smoky, meaty like a good steak on the barbecue, burnt oak, lots of cinnamon, some fresh citrus notes, very rich. Fantastic dram.
