Faucon08 1.3

On the nose I smell corn ethanol and if sit for a little bit I can smell some caramel/brown sugar. On the taste it remind of cheap vodka mix with caramel and a faint hint of spice (cinnamon maybe) that disappear almost right away. Took me a few sip to notice it. And it doesn't really have a finish it disappear so quick. It definitely a cheap whiskey that would have is place in a mixed like with a Coke. It would be fine if it was sale in a plastic bottle, below 20 $Cad. The problem is it sold between 35-40$Cad and advertise as a hand crafted whisky that pay hommage to the RCAF. As a veteran I found that of poor taste if you not gonna bother to put a quality product in the bottle.

I'm not going to waste my time with a full tasting. This is a huge waste of money and now I'm struggling with how to drink it so I don't waste the bottle. I bought it because I was looking for a good affordable cocktail rye and I liked the packaging. Little did I know, this is not a rye. It really has not much more flavour than vodka. It's labeled as rye whisky but according to the back label it's simply corn and wheat and has absolutely no spice to suggest any rye. Do not buy this if you like real whisky. If you want some I will ship you the rest of my bottle for $10. CAD , that is.

MC Drammer 2.3

This whisky is the classic Alberta "rye" flavor profile: Sweet caramel and alcohol. It's very light and ridiculously easy to put back. It's pretty much a vodka aged in oak. It's made for the rye and coke crowd. Disappointing since Highwood is touting this as a craft whisky. It loses more points for calling itself a Rye on the front label only to find out it's all corn and wheat on the back label. This is typical of Highwood and they need to stop perpetuating this Canadian "rye" confusion. Step your game up Highwood.
