About this bottle

This limited edition Kentucky straight bourbon offering from Lux Row Distillers is made by blending a single barrel of the brand's wheated bourbon together with a single barrel of its ryed bourbon. Also, each of the bourbons were aged at least 4 years. Together the bourbon bottling becomes a four-grain bourbon by using corn, wheat, rye, and malted barley. Each bottle will detail both barrel numbers and the original fill dates. There's a limited allocation of 7,500 6-pack cases with retailers getting their allocations in August 2023. (SRP $79.99)

Four grain, double single barrel, 115 proof: wheated barrel #8119653 filled 8/14/18, rye barrel #8986627 filled 7/11/18. Tasting neat. Copper brown and light coating legs in the glass. Light sweet grain and dried cherries on the nose. Some spice. In the mouth, ethanol wiff followed by sweet grain, spice, and then leather and tannic oak. Some light dried fruit but not over-sweet or strong vanilla flavors in this whiskey. Dry, oaky, and spicy finish is average length, with a little sour at the very end. An ice cube rounds out the tannins to a smokier oak flavor and maple sweetness that's quite nice, and tamps down the rye spice in the finish. An interesting four grain double barrel blended whiskey. Dark and complex. A little pricy but worth the experience.

On the nose it's like walking through the rickhouse and getting a nose full of the angel's share. Sweet and oaky with baking spices. On the palate the 4 gains come through and you get a little taste of them all. Initially sweet corn giving way to wheat and finally rye spiciness. On the finish you start to really taste the second barrel coming through along with a nice Kentucky hug. I'm a big fan of this bottle, definitely worth it.

Nose: Dry, floral notes Pallet: This is where the blend gets odd and where the wheat comes out. I can feel both of them battling. There is a spice but the some floral wheatness comes through. Finish: Rye heat on the finish but is short. Longterm dry notes This is something that you can slowing enjoy neat and let let the heat linger and then go back for another taste. I feel adding the cube of ice would mellow it right out.

The nose is very subtle. You can tell it’s a wheated bourbon. Hints of honey and slightly toasted grains. The palate is rye on the forefront, almost pumpernickel; some sweetness, spice and ever so subtle citrus. The moutfeel is medium with a nice oiliness that’s slightly rich and opens to some cinnamon and white pepper. Finish lingers for quite sometime

Nose: Some earthy notes of both fresh grass and peppery spice, cinnamon and oak. Palate: Spicy cinnamon notes, vanilla, and oak. Finish: Long and warm with notes of cinnamon, caramel, floral vanilla, and oak.

Chocolately malt note but balanced With a traditional carmel oak bourbon undertone. The malt note stands out but this does taste a bit young and this expression could benefit with a fre extra years of age.
