One of two distilleries owned by Nikka, Yoichi is located in the northern town of Hokkaidu, where the climate, geography, and ample supply of resources made it the ideal place for the 'Father of Japanese Whisky' to build a distillery back in 1934. This 2000's Single Malt is a rare blend of malt whiskies distilled at the turn of the century and bottled in 2009. The whisky is available in 500ml bottlings, at its cask strength of 57% ABV .

Has interesting Japanese spice, smokiness, and some sherry influence. Nose: Raisins, Salted Honey, Cherries, Apricots, Caramel, Sakura, Barbecue Pork Ribs, Sweet and Sour Soup Palate: Iodine, Vanilla, Honey, Almonds, Plums, Ginger, Sandalwood, Orange Peels, Peaches, Salted Caramel Finish: Raisins, Honey, Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Vanilla, Cherries
Nose: woody with slight brine notes. Some butteriness and pepper. Palate: strong brine, with Peat. Complex flavours with the oakiness, butteriness and brine. Then gives way to a peppery finish.
Good whiskey. Preferred it with a large cube of ice. Not as good as the 1990’s and definitely not as good as the Yoichi 15
Very expressive whisky from Yoichi. Floral and fruity with rich finish.
