North British 55-Year-Old 1962 (cask 11786) - Xtra Old Particular (Douglas Laing) It is a balanced 55-year-old North British single grain, distilled in May 1962 and aged in a single refill hogshead until June 2017, when it was bottled with an outturn of just 221 bottles. It has a birth with notes of roasted coffee beans, caramelized dates & a hint of spiced rum; while life adds notes of mature oak, buttered teacake & treacle tart; that led to a rich, sweet & floral death of medium length with notes of honey & vanilla.
