The single malt whisky here was matured in refill American oak and partially finished in new fresh charred oloroso-seasoned American oak casks. Please don’t judge this malt without adding a substantial amount of water, with water it really opens up into a beautiful fresh fruit bomb. Light smoke enchances the fruit and adds a nice savory character. Only downside is the finish turns slightly bitter at the very end. Overall I’m happy with my purchase.
Oak, wild flowers, pine, seaweed dance with a touch of citrus and salt. This special offering has the signature seaside flavor Oban is known for. Its a nice, unique offering with a smooth yet spicey finish..
Agree with others who say add some water. Nice coastal elements with light fruits and spice, presence of smoke on the back end. Value is getting better as they become more reasonable in their pricing.
