About this bottle

This 11 year-old bourbon release from Heaven Hill marks the 11th Edition of the Parker's Heritage Collection, named for master distiller emeritus Parker Beam. Expect to see slight variations regarding flavor as is to be expected with single barrel releases. Parker was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (also called ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease) in 2010 and passed away in early 2017. The last four editions beginning with Promise of Hope have helped to raise money for ALS research and patient care. That continues with this edition which Heaven Hill has promised to donate $10 of each bottle sold to the ALS Association. This is expected to hit shelves in September 2017.

Nose: Warm, rich, and inviting. There’s a great caramel note and some typical bourbon notes that are ramped up. Great vanilla, sweet cinnamon, nutmeg, and walnut. It smells like a holiday nut cake with a caramel drizzle. The oak is in the background which is just how I like it, not overpowering. Palate: The palate very closely follows the nose. On the front you get a sweet chocolate, caramel glaze, and soft vanilla ice cream. The mid palate is my favorite part of the whiskey as more of the holiday cake notes come in. Carrot cake, walnut, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg. The spice is soft and rounded in such delicious way. Finish: The finish lingers and gives you the perfect amount of oak. The subtly spicy carrot cake note really hangs on and it’s truly great. Overall: This is a fantastic bourbon and it was pretty unique in how the flavors came across in my opinion. Definitely one I wish I could get a bottle of! Final rating: 9.6/10

OK, so I'm considering the sentence, "This is the best Bourbon I've ever had.". Even considering that makes a statement. Found on the very top shelf of a restaurant. The bartender had to get a ladder to retrieve the bottle. Said nobody had ordered it. Boom, here we go. Brown Sugar, honey and pure glory. The finish and depth was unreal. Several drops of water just enhanced everything. So simple and silky, except totally complex. Phenomenal. I'll chase this.

Nose- creamy vanilla, orange soda, black pepper, rich oak throughout, tobacco Palate- smoke and charred oak, spices, roasted nuts, orange, and corn on the cob Finish- Spicy undertones with hints of oak and tobacco Bold and in your face, and anything but sweet. This is a fantastic bourbon that hides its proof on both the nose and finish. Nicely balanced and just what you would expect from an 11 year single barrel bourbon from Parkers.

Golden amber in color. Intense spicy oak on the nose. Manageable at cask strength but water really opens up the nose. More toffee and caramel and sweet fruit. Tons of flavor on the palate, all things expected from a cask strength Heaven Hill product. Very Elijah Craig-ish in nature. The finish is long lasting with some white pepper and more bitter oak, neither of which are a bad thing! Highly recommended

The nose is full of baking spices, oak, vanilla, sweet apples and a touch of port. The palate is very dry and heavy on oak, with black pepper, cinnamon, vanilla and caramel that slowly builds up as the pepper fades. The finish is long, warm and spicy with a mouthful of oak, fading pepper and vanilla and cinnamon.

So I grabbed a pour of this for 20 bones. Beautiful nose with very prevalent notes of vanilla. Great viscosity rich oaky tones while holding the vanilla. Delving in deeper I found honey covered crostini with a warm peppery finish. I don't think I'll buy it again, but I'm thrilled I got to taste it.
