About this bottle

A blended Canadian whisky bottled in Oregon. Hood River Distillers' flagship whisky, named in honor of the local round-up and with a number of tie-ins to the pro rodeo world, Pendleton is an easy sipping Canadian blend that aims for the sweet tooth. Hood River isn't distilling Pendleton, but they are one of the oldest bottlers and importers in the Pacific Northwest, founded in 1934.

like a candy corn creme brulee that I spilled a caramel macchiato on. And before you hipsters can bup bup me about what a true macchiato is, Im already aware. This isnt like THAT macchiato. Its about the super sweet over fluffed trash version. Which is what this tastes like. Super sweet overfluffed trash. The experience can be compared to the a night with a girl that possesses the same characteristics. The very first instance is met with delight as the light and sugary fairy prances through the door and you think "aw hell yeah this is going to be fun!", but then after a few moments, her true nature comes through and its disappointingly empty and bereft of anything relatively interesting and you sadly just wish she would go away because someone elese will be h appy with her, but it cant be you. You wold grow so bored and so resentful so quick. So if you like Pendletons, Im glad for you, sincerely. You take that girl and you hold her and you indulge yourself and you dont let go, dammit, because if you do, someone else will gladly step in and swoop her away and she will forget about you in no time. But that someone wont be me. Because I don’t like that girl. And I don’t like Pendleton.

Subtle notes of butterscotch, marmalade, maple, and vanilla, plus noticeable ethanol, on the nose. Relatively light mouthfeel. Palate is also quite subdued, and shows more ethanol, butterscotch, vanilla, and maple. The finish is short-medium, and, though smooth in the sense of having little to no alcohol burn – this hand-sanitizer-like chemical ethanol flavour persists strongly throughout the entire drinking experience, largely spoiling it. Reminds me of Bacardi, which is not a compliment. 2.00/5.00 – Bad (neat)

Mini bottle tasting series. Maple syrup and a light chemical nose (I can see the Distiller Pro's description of Elmer's Glue). Sweet vanilla syrup, and a thin mouthfeel. A little oak and grassy spice and more corn syrup in the finish. Really does have a slightly artificial maple flavor.

Pendleton (Canadian), no age listed, minimum age is 3 years. Imported then bottled in Oregon. 40% abv. Aroma: semi sharp, some odd sweetness and oak. Taste: some sweetness, minor oak, and some some odd notes. Its average at best in my opinion. Cost: 20 plus tax Grade: C

The expert review on this one of the best that i have seen, i.e. a whiff of Elmer’s glue. As a person who likes the smell of Elmer’s glue, I was more than intrigued! Serioisly though, it is not as bad as drinking glue, and I have had much worse!

One of the most disappointing whiskeys I’ve had. Finally bought a 375ml after having seen this around for a long time. The nose and palate agree, this is basically a blend of vodka, rum, cheap vanilla, and cheap caramel flavoring. Stay away.
