Following my review for the standard Pendleton comes this review for Pendleton Midnight Canadian Whisky. It's mostly the same juice except a portion of the whisky was aged in brandy barrels. Let's see if it fairs any better. Nose: Like its predecessor, still too much of the sweet solvents, though not to the degree you might expect since the ABV is bumped up to 45% here. It's more fruity. Starfruit (never gotten that note in a whisk(e)y before) and musty bubblegum. Still too much alcohol burn. Palate: Light-bodied, with a slightly more classy variety of cloying, artificial sweetness. Non-descript fruitiness, vanilla, and spice. Finish: Short but once again, that familiar, unpleasant aftertaste lingers for too long. Bitter, vanilla-grape cough syrup with some green pepper. Verdict: This is another "no" from me. While slightly more tolerable than the standard issue, this is still not good and the aftertaste is really off-putting to me. 1.75 ~ Poor

Nose- alchohol and a strange earthyness. Not much. Palate- starts thick, sweet cherry wood, a tinge of vanilla frosting, the artificial type. Mid and finish start to dry out and feel like a rye. Spicy dry cinnamon disc. The start kinda lingers and stays sticky on the end. The sweet and sticky and the spicy dryness seem to fight each other and then settle into one another. I think this is a not so bad rendering of a classic. The sweetness is there of the OG but the older brandy finished whiskey adds some interesting dynamics.
Pendleton Midnight, Canadian Whisky bottled in Oregon. 45% abv. No age listed. Minimum: 3 years, a portion is finished in brandy barrels. Aroma: minor sweet notes, leather. Taste: plenty of brandy notes, over time this is lost and more oak notes come through. It is very one note from my experience but it is a decent offering from Pendleton, definitely deserves a revisit. Cost: 28.99+tax for a 750 ml bottle. Grade: B-/B
Awful! I've NEVER found a whiskey/whisky that I could not tolerate, until now. For my palate, I don't understand how the Distiller Staff rated this an 81. More like 61. I've often said, "...if you don't like it,mix it with a cola. It's bad even with Coke. 1oz of this stuff with 5 oz o food Coke and a lot of ice was the only way that I could get it down. I gave serious thought about pouring it out.
Mild and delicious and spicy with none of the intensity noted in the description here on Distiller. It's like a cinnamon bun, peppered with... erm, pepper, in a whiskey! But there is only 1/20th of the bottle left so probably much of the biting alcohol evaporated? That will be my strategy if I buy this bottle -- leave it open a day or two!! Then, VOILÀ! Perfection!
This is a favorite on ice. The flavors arent great, I'd describe metallic before anything else. But tastes fairly strong, spicy, and distinctly Canadian. There's a distinct flavor I'd imagine comes from the advertised brandy cask. At a cheap price (>30) I would absolutely recommend
