About this bottle

Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey is a brand founded by Mixed Martial Arts Champion Conor McGregor under his Eire Born Spirits company. The name refers to the southwest area where McGregor hails, Dublin 12. McGregor worked in concert with master distiller David Elder, formerly of Guinness, to decide on the final blend selected from almost 100 blends. This is a triple-distilled blended whiskey matured in former bourbon barrels. Notably, the company will donate $5 for every case sold to local first responder organizations & charities up to $1 million annually.

Erik Palmieri 3.5

A very gentle aroma, mildly sweet odors of honey or golden syrup, daisies, vanilla, and a touch of fresh oak, plus a hint of sharpness in the form of pears. Sweeter on the palate yet still quite subtle. There’s a little bitterness at the mid-palate plus a dash of white pepper, but overall it’s smooth. The flavors call to mind Cream of Wheat with vanilla almond milk and a dollop of honey eaten with a wooden spoon. Perhaps a side of caramel applesauce as well. Light bodied and thin in the mouth. In the glass it falls relatively quickly and appears to nearly form legs just before dissipating to leave behind droplets of various sizes. The finish is short and dry, with the balance of flavor shifting from sweet to more tannic in the nature of raw oak. There’s not much complexity, but it’s a fine Irish Whiskey for an everyday dram or when you’re not in the mood for a fight. Nose: 7 Palate: 7 Body: 6 Finish: 7

[12.16.22] Free trial in Madison on the walk back from the capitol. Sweet downtown liquor store with a nice scotch collection upstairs. My apologies to the women running the tasting as I'm sure I came off a bit brash. You'd think a guy like MacGregor would know better than any not to sell something that tastes like Jameson for 10% more money. Not remotely surprised to learn this is a Guinness collaboration nor that they are generously donating a few $ per case (not per bottle) to a charity. Better than Jameson Black label but still just a simple Irish whiskey. Drinks easy, like water. Barely some barrel flavors or a vanilla or floral hint. But basically this is alcoholic spring water at the same price as Russell's Reserve. Choose wisely. And donate the spare change to your local food bank.

A deep amber color with a thinner viscosity Nose: light with the distinctive pot still nuances , sweet honey and slight vanilla notes. Very pleasant especially as it opens up with sugary spices. Pallet: malted barley grassy notes very floral up front. Sweetness appears in the middle with a slight vanilla note and kitchen spices. On the back, fruit of pears and apple peal. Finish: finish is medium short with a pleasant aftertaste of light fruits and peals. Overall a pleasant pour easy sipping. Not the best flavor as its a very light body.

On the Nose: Really beautiful nose here. I’m actually impressed given the price point. Lots of citrus on top of apple spice and minty fresh leaves. Palate: Pretty soft on the palate maybe some applewood, this was hard to figure out. Finish: This is a really smooth whiskey it goes down very easy and leaves almost a mint note with a soft butter pecan note. Overall pretty good, with there was more on the finish. But the nose is really solid and a fan of this for the price point.

Right off the bat I detect light hint of green apple followed by cereal grains. On first sip On the palate Idetect a hint of green apple and more cereal grain which ends in a very short finish. There isn’t much more for me to say. This is a hard pass for me in the future. Im glad the experience costed me the price of a 50ml bottle.

Mcgregor hype got me this bottle finally but it taste like watered down bourbon… doesn’t really have the unique Irish whiskey note and taste. However its not a bad drink personally i was little disappointed with the overall experience but its a great drink for a beginner for sure!
