Redemption Rye Rum Cask Finish (Batch 1)

A rich Straight Rye Whiskey by MGP Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana made with a mash bill of 95% rye & 5% malted barley; finished for a minimum of 3 months in Plantation Caribbean Rum barrels & bottled at 94 proof. It has an aromatic birth with notes of dried stone fruits, rye spice, molasses, vanilla & oak; while a rich & complex life adds notes of clove, caraway, cinnamon, clover honey, molasses & brown sugar; that led to a long & fruity death with notes of earth, tannins, vinegar, dried apricot & persimmon. Nose: Initial blast of ethanol, pine needles and general sweetness, after a good 10-15 minute rest, tropical fruit, molasses, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon notes emerge. Palate: Semi-sweet and a somewhat viscous with baking spices, rye, vanilla, molasses, brown sugar and hint of tropical fruit. Finish: Medium length with lingering sweetness and light spices.
