A fresh, grassy nose with a bright sugar cane patina. Upon tasting, the entry is crisp and warm with a somewhat sweet character, but the cane and water source used to bring the spirit down to proof are the showstoppers here. There is an initimacy and immediacy that carries you to the sunshine of the island. A very long finish leads to a slightly dry and chalky ending. Overall, this is exceptionally elegant, while at the same time authentic to its origins. Great for mixing in rum forward cocktails.

About this bottle
Located in Grenada, the Renegade Rum Distillery puts a focus on the microclimates of the island as well as the sugarcane varieties that are harvested there. Here, they used the Cain variety from the Mamo field in the Boulders terroir area on Hope Farm. Fresh sugarcane juice was distilled using a pot still and the rum was bottled without aging and with no chill-filtering, coloring or sugar added. Available in the US as of August 2022. (SRP $65)
